Kone and Murphy help Luctonians to tame Tigers

Warriors’ pair Cheick Kone and Ben Murphy helped Luctonians to a 31-19 win over Sheffield Tigers in National Two North at Mortimer Park on Saturday.

Lock Kone started for the Herefordshire club and prop Murphy came off the bench as Luctonians recovered from being reduced to 13 men for a time because of two yellow cards, to climb to seventh in the table.

A third Three Pears Warriors Academy player, Finn Theobald-Thomas, again started on the openside flank for Stourbridge in their 42-28 defeat at Hull Ionians, also in National Two North.

Theobald-Thomas was capped by England Under-20s as a hooker this season but made his first Warriors start at openside in the recent Premiership Rugby Cup win at Bath.

All three youngsters have been gaining valuable senior experience in National Two North this season on dual registrations.
