Alex Matthews marked her 50th England cap by helping the Red Roses seal the 2022 TikTok Women’s Six Nations with a 24-12 victory over France in Bayonne.
Matthews and her Warriors teammate Lydia Thompson both started against Les Bleues in a game which saw Simon Middleton’s side saunter into a 21-7 lead at the break thanks to two tries from Sarah Bern and one from Abbie Ward.
Emily Scarratt’s boot spurred England onto victory in the second half, the win securing England’s fourth consecutive Six Nations title.

Caity Mattinson and Lana Skeldon played the full 80 minutes of Scotland’s agonising 15-14 defeat to Ireland at Kingspan Stadium.
Enya Breen converted her own try in the last act of the game to give Ireland a dramatic win, while in similar fashion Wales’ hearts were broken by a last-ditch Michela Sillari penalty which secured a 10-8 triumph for Italy in Cardiff.
