Warriors Women have made three changes for tomorrow’s Allianz Premier 15s clash against Sale Sharks at Sixways Stadium as Jo Yapp’s side look to finish the campaign with back-to-back wins (kick-off 2pm).
Club Captain Lyndsay O’Donnell returns to the starting XV, the Scotland international having had a stop-start season due to injury.
Red Roses back-row Alex Matthews is also named among the starters, packing down at blindside flanker alongside Wales international Alex Callender, while Caryl Thomas, who made an immediate impact when coming off the bench in last week’s 34-24 victory over Loughborough Lightning, gets the nod at loosehead prop.
The fixture, which is being billed as Legends Day, will see a number of past players in attendance at Sixways tomorrow, an occasion which Director of Rugby Jo Yapp is relishing.
“We’re really looking forward to inviting the legend players back, who ultimately got the club to where it is today and we’re really excited for the fixture,” said Yapp.
“It was something that we started a couple of years ago, but with COVID, we couldn’t do it last year. To have those familiar faces back at Sixways will be great.”
After last week’s impressive comeback win against Loughborough, Yapp is keen to round off the season on a high by ensuring her side record successive victories on home turf.
“We were really proud of our performance last week and it’s important that we back it up with another strong performance against a very good Sale side,” added Yapp.
“It would be a great way to sign off the season by going out there and getting another win.”
