Warriors Women confirm departures

Warriors Women can confirm that four players have departed the club following the conclusion of the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s season.

Alex Matthews, Alycia Washington, Ursula Hardy and Lowri Williams have all left Sixways with the club’s best wishes.

England international Matthews, who joined Warriors ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, has signed for Gloucester-Hartpury having represented Team GB Sevens at the Tokyo Olympics in addition to winning her 50th England cap during her stay in the West Midlands.

Washington scored on her Warriors debut on the opening day of the 2021/22 season and represented USA Eagles against the Red Roses at Sixways last autumn, while Hardy got her move to the club after impressing for Worcester RFC.

Williams, who was named Club Person of the year at the end of the 2020/21 season, has been an excellent squad player throughout her time at Sixways.

“Ursula and Lowri have both added real value to the club and we wish them every success both on and off the field,” said Warriors Women Director of Rugby Jo Yapp.

“Alycia has made a strong impact on the field for us this season and we would like to thank her for her contribution to the team.

“Alex joined us when she was transitioning from sevens to the 15-aside game and since then she has established herself as a starting back-row player for England, which is a hugely competitive position.

“We understand the personal reasons for Alex’s departure, and we wish her every success for the future.”

The club will be announcing new signings in due course as well as a new Forwards Coach to replace Liza Burgess.
