WARRIORS WOMEN APPOINT NEW FORWARDS COACH

Steve Halsey has been appointed Warriors Women’s new Forwards Coach, with the former England U20s coach joining from Loughborough Lightning ahead of the 2022/23 Allianz Premier 15s campaign.

Halsey has spent three seasons with Loughborough, helping to guide them to a play-off semi-final against Saracens during the 2020/21 campaign, which the north London club edged 28-24.

With over seven years’ experience within the England U20s set-up, Halsey has nurtured the next generation of Premier 15s players and has already worked with a number of talented Warriors players.

“I’m really looking forward to working with this group and helping to build on the progress that they have made over the last few seasons,” said Halsey, who has also been involved in coaching at Northampton Saints’ Academy.

“It is an exciting opportunity to come and work with a talented group of players and hardworking staff here at Sixways, which is a great set-up.

“I’ve been hugely impressed as an outsider of the hunger and fight which Worcester, and particularly its forwards pack has shown over the past season.”

Looking forward to welcoming Halsey to Sixways, Director of Rugby Jo Yapp added: “Having coached in the Allianz Premier 15s, Steve joins us with a wealth of experience and he really cares about player development.

“He is a very detailed coach and I know he is keen to push himself and the players to really build on the foundations that have already been set.”
