International round-up

Warriors wing Duhan van der Merwe helped Scotland to a 29-6 win against Argentina in the second Test of the summer series in Salta.

Scotland were beaten 26-18 in the series opener last week and were only 8-6 ahead at half-time in Salta.

But Scotland ran in three unanswered tries after the break and frustrated Argentina with some excellent defence under pressure.

Scotland’s tries came from Hamish Watson, Mark Bennett, Matt Fagerson and Sam Johnson with van der Merwe threatening in attack as well as impressing in defence.

The third and deciding Test of the series takes place in Santiago del Estero on July 16 (kick-off 8.10pm BST).

But there was disappointment for Renato Giammarioli, one of Warriors’ new recruits for next season, as Georgia beat Italy 28-19 in Batumi in their final international of the summer on Sunday.

Giammarioli came on as replacement number eight late in the first-half but Georgia went on to claim their first-ever victory against Six Nations opposition.
