Will Owen called up by England Under-18s

Warriors Under-18s back-row forward Will Owen has been called up by England Under-18s for their tour of South Africa.

Owen, of Ellesmere College and Whitchurch, will join the squad as an injury replacement and will become Warriors’ second representative after hooker Loïc Keasey (RGS Worcester and Worcester) in South Africa.

England will play three matches in Paarl between August 19 and 27, who against South Africa Under-18s and the other against South Africa Under-18s A.

A third Warriors Under-18s player, lock Ollie McGinnity (Warwick School and Silhillians), has also received international recognition having been called up by Wales Under-18s for a collaborative pilot programme alongside Scotland and Italy.

The three nations are in camp at the University of Stirling where the programme will end with non-cap internationals on Thursday.

“It is great to have three Warriors players recognised through International programmes this summer,” said Mike Hall, Manager of the Three Pears Warriors Academy.

“All three of the players have worked hard over the past couple of seasons, so to have this external recognition for them is great. We look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return to Academy training later in the summer.”
