Team News | Williams to start against Exeter

Wales international fly-half Owen Williams will make his first start for Warriors in more than 11 months in Sunday’s Gallagher Premiership match against Exeter Chiefs at Sixways (3pm).

Williams suffered a serious hamstring injury attempting to kick a conversion against former club Gloucester on his third appearance for Warriors last October.

Having returned as a replacement against Harlequins in January Williams then missed the remainder of the season but he has now returned to full fitness.

He kicked two conversions when he came off the bench against London Irish last Saturday and starts against Exeter in place of Billy Searle who has been named as a replacement having recovered from the head injury he suffered last week.

Williams is one of three changes to Warriors’ starting XV with Curtis Langdon, who scored a try on debut when he came off the bench last week, starting at hooker and Tom Dodd at number eight.

Dodd also came on in the second half at London Irish and switches places with Matt Kvesic who he replaced last week.

Sunday’s match goes ahead after Warriors met a midday deadline set by the RFU to provide assurances in relation to the receipt of a General Safety Certificate from the local authority and written confirmation of medical provision.
