Andy Root

Individual Development Coach

Root joined Warriors at the launch of the Tyrrells Premier 15s in the Summer 2017. He has held several roles at the club, including 1st Team Backs Coach, Development XV Lead and Individual Development delivery.

Root led the University of Birmingham Women's Rugby team to a two year unbeaten run which saw them gain BUCS Premiership status, make three final appearances in the BUCS Womens Trophy, winning back-to-back titles.

He is currently North Midlands County Womens Head Coach and gained Level 3 coaching status in June 2019.

Root previously played and Coached at Birmingham Exiles RFC for many years, winning a league title in 2009 and hosting the Women and Girls Divisional programme for four years featuring an England U20s match.

He is a Self Employed Sports Coach delivering PE/CPD training in primary schools along with implementing sporting and behaviour initiatives to support children and adults in the local community, using sport as a vehicle to change people.
