Worcester Warriors Appoint Sam Handy as Head of Rugby Conditioning

Saturday 21 June 2025

Worcester Warriors are pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Handy as the club’s new Head of Rugby Conditioning ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.

Handy joins the Warriors from Northampton Saints, where he played a key role in their high-performing strength and conditioning team. His impressive CV includes stints at Scarlets and Jersey Reds, who won the RFU Championship under his watch.

With a wealth of experience working in elite rugby environments, Handy will be responsible for leading all aspects of rugby conditioning at Warriors. This includes on-field conditioning programmes and working closely with coaches and medical staff to maximise player development across the senior squad.

Speaking about his new role, Sam Handy said:

“I’m excited to be part of this opportunity and look forward to seeing how far we can grow as a team. In this role, I have the chance to make a meaningful impact on our journey by developing the team’s physical capacities. The coaching staff and player group assembled are highly promising and capable of achieving great things.”

Warriors Head Coach Matt Everard welcomed Handy to the club, highlighting the winning pedigree and high-performance culture he brings:

“Sam is a winner. He has experienced multiple winning environments throughout his career already. Winning the URC with Scarlets, the Champ with Jersey and came extremely close this season in the Champions Cup in a superb Northampton Saints set up.”

Sam’s appointment is a key part of the club’s ongoing rebuild and long-term vision.
