Warriors fall to defeat on the road at Chinnor

Sunday 19 April 2026

Worcester Warriors suffered defeat on the road at Chinnor, falling 32-22 at Kingsey Road.

The hosts accumulated a 29-5 lead before the Warriors crossed for three more tries to secure a valuable bonus point, but the victory escaped them.

The Warriors made a good start, causing problems for the Chinnor defence within the opening minute, but eventually were penalised for holding on.

The strong start continued when Will Trewin broke through the line just two minutes later, with the final hands just eluding Warriors' hands.

And Chinnor capitalised for their own early score with hooker Alun Walker crossing from the back of a driving maul.

On the twenty-minute mark, the hosts had a second, centre James Bourton cut through the gap in the Warriors' defence to race in, with Nathan Chamberlain adding the conversion.

Worcester prop Billy Keast saw yellow for a high tackle in the build-up to the second try, and with the Warriors down to 14, the hosts crossed again with full-back Joe Brock breaking down the right wing before sending in Grant Hughes for his side's third of the half.

Warriors eventually crossed for their opening points following a smart kick through from Billy Twelvetrees, which was collected by Jake Garside and dotted down for his twelfth try of the campaign, sending the Warriors behind at half-time 19-5.

At the start of the second period, Chinnor fly-half Chamberlain extended his side's lead with a penalty, and ten minutes later the hosts had a fourth try when Callum Pascoe read an intercept to run in under the posts.

Worcester continued to battle and were rewarded with two tries in quick succession.

First, hooker Archie Vanes crossed from the back of a motoring driving maul, before five minutes later a brilliant break from Trewin and strong support line from Jasper Spandler allowed quick-ball to be spread wide to Matt Kvesic, who crossed for the Warriors' third of the afternoon.

The Warriors continued to push to close the gap further, winning scrum penalties in attacking positions, being held up over the line, but the key score evaded them.

As the game edged into its final minutes, Chinnor’s Chamberlain added another penalty to secure his side's victory, but Warriors had the last act.

Full-back Trewin crossed with a minute to go after a smart kick over the top, securing a bonus point that might prove pivotal in the race for a home play-off game.
