Supporters are advised that the Guinness Premiership clash with London Irish at Sixways Stadium this Saturday remains on – but the kick-off time has now been moved forward to 2pm.
Following a meeting on Thursday morning between senior Sixways officials and the Safety Advisory Group, that includes representatives from the emergency services, it has been decided that the game will be moved forward an hour. Kick off has been moved to 2pm in order to allow the public to vacate Sixways in daylight after the game and before the night time freeze begins in earnest.
The stadium pitch has this week been covered by a heated dome run by Sports & Stadia Services and this will remain on the playing surface until matchday. Referee Chris White will be at the club for a pitch inspection at 3pm on Friday and will also hold a further inspection prior to the game on Saturday. The infrastructure around the stadium has been deemed suitable for the game to go ahead. Primary and secondary routes around the complex and county have been gritted and between now and match day smaller roads around the area will also be gritted. However, all motorists planning to travel to Sixways are urged to use caution and allow extra time for their journey.
Season Ticket holders are reminded that they can use FREE travel on First Midland on match day and they will be operating the usual match day timetable, but running an hour ahead due to the earlier kick-off time. Worcester Warriors would recommend fans use this method of transport to get to the stadium.
Supporters are encouraged to allow extra time to get to the stadium on Saturday. If parking and walking to the stadium please take extra care on all routes. Fans who use Wainwright Road and the Warndon Trading Estate for the Park and Walk are asked to park sensibly and walk on designated routes that will be stewarded. Fans are also urged to wear suitable clothing and footwear to the game.
The club also has an arrangement with local contractor, AA Salt Services Ltd, to supply salt so we will ensure that the Sixways Stadium site is salted and designated footpaths are clear.
