Centre of Excellence

Warriors Women Centre of Excellence

The Worcester Warriors Women COE is an integral part in assessing, supporting and developing U18 female players on their rugby journey. The program is run in collaboration with the RFU which will give more girls the opportunity to progress through the England Pathway.

The Centre of Excellence is the next stage in the Womens Performance Pathway from the County program. Counties will nominate players that they feel can develop on through the pathway using a criteria designed by the RFU. The counties that are linked with Worcester Warriors’ Centre of Excellence are; North Midlands, Staffordshire and Warwickshire. From the selection day, a group is selected to partake in the Centre of Excellence program from September to May. This squad does not play competitive fixtures due to the nature of the program being player focused.

All sessions are based at Sixways Stadium which hosts world class facilities. The focus is to develop players across all components of performance – technical, tactical, physical preparation, mental wellbeing and overall lifestyle. At the heart of the programme is the notion of individual development within a team environment.

At Warriors we aim to make sure player transitions as they move through the pathway are as smooth as possible. That could include moving up into a First team environment at a Premier 15s club; England U20; Talent Development Group; University or any other route they may wish to take. In the program we make sure we have prepared them for situations that may occur in their next environment.

With the program beginning in 2017 we have seen a number of Centre of Excellence graduates representing their country and many have gone onto first team contracts at Worcester Warriors Women and other Allianz Premier 15s clubs.
