Phil Murphy has revealed he is determined to make his mark for Warriors when he returns to former club Leeds Carnegie on Friday night (kick-off 8pm).
Murphy joined Warriors from Leeds in 2004 and has since become a permanent fixture in the starting line-up at Sixways Stadium alongside Craig Gillies in the second row.
The 27-year-old admits he owes a large part of his rugby career to Leeds after they talent spotted him from school and put him through their Academy system.
Murphy even won promotion with Leeds – then known as the Tykes – into the promised land of the Premiership and enjoyed several seasons with them in the elite before a move to Worcester.
But he is adamant there will be no split loyalties come kick-off time on Friday night at Headingley Carnegie as Mike Ruddock’s men target a first win of the 2007/08 Guinness Premiership season.
“I’ve only been back to Leeds a couple of times since my move to Warriors and it always brings back strong memories,” he said. “It is where it all started and where I trained, played and grew up as a lad.
“But it’s a different club to the one I knew then – there will be no compassion from me. Some of the coaches that are there now were at the club when I was, but in different roles.
“This game is all about Warriors for me because we need a result. We know we can do it, we’ve dominated teams in this league at times and got results against people. It’s just a case of going out there and getting stuck into them.”
