Project Sixways – East Stand taking shape

Sixways Stadium, the home of Worcester Warriors and Sixways Events, is undergoing a huge summer revamp of the East Stand – and the change is already noticeable!

Work is well underway on the latest facelift of the club and this week the progress has seen:

East Stand:

The cantilever roof structure has today started being located into place, with some internal stairwells also appearing this week. Over the weekend, work will continue at pace on the steel works concentrating on the central east stand block.  It is evident now that the roof spans over to the pitch side perimeter boards.

By the end of the weekend the centre block steel structures will be completed and set the levels for the outer blocks to go up faster in the near future. Next week, the cladding and roof itself will start to go up on this central block

Road and Roundabout:

This is now nearing completion and should be finished in a couple of weeks.  The majority of tie-ins, fencing, lights and white lines are now in place and complete.  Part of the roundabout should be in use during next week as part of the road management system allowing final tie-ins to take place. The new road signs have also been put in this week

Indoor Training Centre:

Now fully complete with rubber crumb and matting down.  The players are also back in and using the facility.

Warriors Underpass:

Access to the new Amateur Club changing rooms from the original Sixways Site is now close to completion. The steep banks are being cleared and ready for seeding.

Pitch Drainage:

Drainage work on amateur pitches three and four is still on-going. Due to the land being of poorer material and still very very wet from last summer’s floods, this is taking a long time to do this properly.
