Miles – It’s brilliant to be back fit

Wing wonder Miles Benjamin admits ‘it’s brilliant to be back’ after being named on the bench for Worcester Warriors trip to Welford Road to face Leicester Tigers.

Benjamin has been out of action since breaking his leg in the European Challenge Cup clash with Bourgoin in early December.

But the speedster has made a return to full fitness ahead of schedule and set for a first team return from the bench against Tigers.

“It’s brilliant to be back,” he said. “It’s nice after such a long layoff to be part of the squad again and after all the hard work to get back so quickly.

“You are in the gym every morning with the conditioners when you are injured and they do all the hard work with you, it is great to able to repay their dedication and effort by getting back involved.

“I’m back a week earlier than I thought so that is ideal, we originally targeted the Wasps game but everything was going so well that we thought Tigers was the ideal opportunity to get me involved again.

“We have been hit in the back line recently with injuries, with Chris Pennell out for a while. Now I am back I plan to do my part.”

Benjamin admits he faces a difficult task to reclaim a starting spot but for now is just keen to lace up the boots and taste first team rugby again.

“I’m just hoping for some game time at Welford Road,” he added. “I definitely want to get on but I am aware that Marcel Garvey has been out for a while and come back with a bang and Rico Gear is playing some exciting rugby.

“It is now a case of doing what I can and showing what I am capable of when I get the chance. Leicester is big ground for me as it was there that I first featured for the first team in the league, now I want more happy memories.”
