Boss – Sanderson to lead Warriors

Worcester boss Mike Ruddock has hailed the ‘true Warrior spirit’ of skipper Pat Sanderson – and revealed the former England international will once again lead the side in the Guinness Premiership in 2009/10.

Director of Rugby Ruddock praised the outstanding contribution of Sanderson after the flanker picked up the ‘Warrior of the Year’ award at the end of season dinner at Sixways Stadium.

Sanderson, who has played 115 games for Worcester, has led the team for the last five years and Ruddock revealed he would again be named club captain for the next campaign as he continues to lead from the front.

“Pat has been an outstanding captain for Worcester Warriors and thoroughly deserves the Warriors of the Year award this season,” said Ruddock.

“He sets the standards at the club and always leads by example by putting his body on the line time after time.

“Pat, in many ways, is our Captain Fantastic and always shows true Warrior spirit. He is determined to make sure that this club will move up the league table and I’m delighted to be able to announce that he will once again captain the side in 2009/10.”
