Prop Black calls for cup momentum

Prop ace Adam Black has urged Worcester Warriors to build momentum for a return to the Guinness Premiership as they prepare for a big month of cup competition.

Worcester saw the home league clash with London Irish postponed last weekend and are now not back in top-flight action until they travel to Wembley Stadium to tackle Saracens in mid-February.

Before then the Warriors face Olympus Rugby XV Madrid and Montpellier in the Amlin Challenge Cup and Gloucester and London Irish in the LV= Cup.

And Black is keen for Warriors to create a winning habit and not take the foot off the gas before league action resumes.

“The next few games for us are crucial,” said Black. “We can’t just dismiss the Madrid game and the Montpellier game in Europe.

“We need to perform and are a team that has to perform week in and week out to build momentum. If we fall off we will get left behind, it’s that simple.

“Every game now is crucial for us, but the Guinness Premiership is our main target. We have to produce every time we run out in the league to consider being in the top six.”

“We have drawn a lot of games recently and teams aren’t beating us. That will be a factor with any team that comes to Sixways, that has got to be something that we focus on.

“There is nothing worse than going to a team where you know it is going to be a dogfight and they won’t lie down. That is what we want to create at Sixways.”

Tickets for Amlin Challenge Cup clash with Olympus Rugby XV Madrid at Sixways Stadium remain on sale. Call the Warriors Box Office on 01905 454183 or visit the online Tickets section at www.warriors.co.uk
