Warriors Women add to their ranks

Warriors Women have acquired the services of El Febrey, Lisa Campbell and Cara Clarke in the build-up to this weekend’s pre-season friendly against Bristol Bears at Sixways (kick-off 2pm).

The trio join a whole host of players to have already committed to the Sixways set-up ahead of the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s season.

Febrey, 21, who has represented England Under-20s, made her Warriors debut in January 2020 with the hooker showing continued improvement at the set-piece.

“I’m really excited to see where we can go as a team this season and I can’t wait to be back playing with the girls very soon,” said Febrey.

Forwards Coach Liza Burgess added: “We’re delighted that El is back with us – she has worked so hard on the back of her injury last season.

“As a former England Under-20 representative, we are excited to see her back on the field.

Meanwhile, Campbell brings a wealth of experience to Jo Yapp’s side having won the Rugby League World Cup in 2008 prior to joining Warriors two years later.

With a string of youngsters coming through the ranks, the 34-year-old has played a key role in aiding their development.

“Worcester has been my home away from home for the past 11 years and I’m so grateful to the coaches and staff for getting me back onto the pitch,” said Campbell.

“I feel like it’s my time to give back to them and the club.”

“It is great to have Lisa’s experience both on and off the pitch,” Warriors Women Director of Rugby Jo Yapp said of the New Zealander.

“She’s a player who helps drive our values at the club and is always willing to step in and support others.

“Having taken time out last year to focus on her career, we are looking forward to seeing her back on the field.

Wing Clarke, 21, lifted the Tri-Nations with England Under-20s as well as winning the Under-18s European Sevens Championships in 2017.

“I’m so grateful and excited to be re-signing with Warriors after a tough couple of seasons with injury,” said Clarke.

“The support that I’ve received has been amazing and I can’t wait to get started.”

Coming back to full fitness, Clarke has demonstrated her determination whilst watching from the sideline, with Attack and Backs Coach Sian Moore pleased to have her on board at Sixways.

“Cara is a true professional on and off the pitch,” she added.
