Mixed fortunes for Warriors in loan action

There was a full hand of results for Warriors players on loan duty in the Championship or National Two North on Saturday.

Back-row forward Caleb Montgomery was on the winning side for Cornish Pirates for Cornish Pirates who snatched a 20-17 victory against Bedford Blues at Goldington Road in the Championship.

When Montgomery came on at number eight 15 minutes from time, Pirates were 14 points down but they scored 17 unanswered points in the last eight minutes to snatch victory.

Hooker Finn Theobald-Thomas made his Championship debut for Nottingham in their 36-24 win against London Scottish at the Richmond Athletic Ground.

Theobald-Thomas, who made his England Under-20s debut in Italy last week, has been playing for Stourbridge in National Two North.

He joined Nottingham on a similar arrangement at the weekend and came on as a 77th minute replacement at London Scottish.

Forwards Jack Forsythe and Cheick Kone were involved in Luctonians’ 10-10 draw with Rotherham Titans at Mortimer Park in National Two North.

Forsythe started at blindside flanker and was replaced by his Three Pears Warriors Academy team-mate Kone in the second half.

Rotherham appeared to have snatched victory when flanker Zac Poole crossed under the posts from the final play of the game but the simplest of conversions was missed with the referee deciding that the kick passed under the crossbar.

But there was disappointment for Lewis Holsey, Ben Murphy and Ollie Wynn as Hartpury were edged out 11-10 by Championship leaders Doncaster Knights at Castle Park.

Holsey played the full match at loosehead prop and Murphy and Wynn were unused replacements for Hartpury who were beaten by a last minute penalty from Sam Olver.
