Sixth Form Quartet Scoop AASE Awards

Worcester Sixth Form College 1st XV rugby squad celebrated their end of season awards dinner at Sixways Stadium to reflect on the season past and bid farewell to those who have completed both their studies and their time on the AASE Scheme.

Amongst the presentations were winners medals for the squad from the AASE Bowl Final, where Worcester Sixth Form College triumphed 38-29 over Myerscough College (Sale Sharks AASE), and mementos from an heroic effort at the Rosslyn Park 7's where the team reached the quarter final stage.

Special awards for Coaches' Player of the Season, Player’s Player of the Season, and a Group Trademark Player Award were up for grabs.

The Coaches’ Player of the Season was jointly awarded to squad captain Matt Masters and vice-captain Tom Redfern who have both had outstanding seasons playing an instrumental part in the development of the group.

The Player’s Player of the Season was awarded to Matt Fox, a fitting tribute to cap off his enormous contribution to the AASE Scheme throughout his time at Worcester Sixth Form College.

The Trademark Player Award which is also voted for by members of the playing squad was awarded to Yusuke Osaki, who has contributed in an extremely positive way to developing the group environment, which is crucial in ensuring the quality of the programme.

Simon Lane, Warriors Academy AASE Co-ordinator, said: “I would like to congratulate the squad as a whole for their effort throughout the last year, in particular the four who were presented with awards. Each award is a reflection of the good qualities these lads possess, such as leadership, hard work and commitment to our standards. To be voted for, or selected by those around you for such awards speaks volumes. The AASE Scheme has the objective of developing individuals to be the best rugby players and people they can be and without putting such behaviours into practice this would not be possible.”

The Warriors look forward to their continued partnership that the AASE provides with Worcester Sixth Form College and have their trial date on Wednesday (June 27) which is open to all perspective students looking to attend the college next academic year.
