Academy’s Welsh clash falls foul of weather

The weekend’s torrential rain has put paid to the chances of Warriors’ young academy stars test themselves against the Welsh U19 team tonight.

The two squads were due to meet at Sixways as part of Welsh preparations for the Six Nations championship.
But playing a second match in three days on the stadium pitch was quickly ruled out this morning, and the Pitch 2 alternative was eliminated after a pitch inspection at 11am.
The news has disappointed Academy manager Andrew Stanley and assistant Gary Meechan, who were looking forward to the occasion and delighted that the Wales U19 management had requested the game.
“It’s a prestigious fixture and we’ve tried to rearrange it for next Monday, but without success,” Stan said. “We’re also trying to make it a permanent annual fixture.”
