Duckworth: We have not given up the fight

A message from Chairman Cecil Duckworth to supporters ahead of the crucial Bath clash on Saturday.

What a season!

Firstly, I would like to apologise to all our supporters for the lack of success.  It has not only been heart-breaking but exceedingly frustrating.  The Guinness Premiership is a very competitive league and someone has to finish bottom – but we have certainly not given up the fight.

There is not much difference between the top and the bottom team, the margins are so small between winning and losing.  We could have easily won at least six or seven games that we lost this season.  We now have six games left and we know we could win all six.  Leeds did that two seasons ago, so we know it is possible.  It will be a tall order but it is not over until the fat lady sings!

I’ve constantly said that we have the players and I know how dedicated and hard-working they are.  They too are devastated and frustrated at our lack of success.  They also know, as we all know, that we don’t deserve to be in 12th position.  At the same time they are positive and I am confident that they will fight on to try and win the next six games.

You, our supporters, deserve success.  You have been fantastic.  I also believe that our players deserve success, they are a great bunch of guys.

We have six cup finals in front of us.  The first is against Bath on Saturday.  Be there, and with a fair wind, it could be the start of something dramatic.
