Worcester Warriors and local heart patient Lloyd Roberts joined forces with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to launch the Hearts First Bike Ride Worcester – the biggest bike ride for Worcestershire.
The Warriors are encouraging people to sign up for the BHF’s fun event on Sunday, June 3 starting and finishing at the Worcester Racecourse to help save the lives of people living with heart disease across the county.
Lloyd Roberts, aged 37, was born with congenital heart disease so knows just how important it is to look after your heart. At seven years of age he underwent his first operation and just two years ago he had his fourth to fit a mechanical valve. “I feel lucky that medical advances in heart research have been able to help me, which is why I am supporting the BHF event,” he said.
Warriors first team star Gavin Quinnell added: “Worcester Warriors have always been keen supporters of the British Heart Foundation and we’re delighted to once again back this year’s fund-raising and urge our supporters to get on their bikes for such a worthwhile cause.
“All the players at Sixways know the importance of a healthy heart and fitness and listening to Lloyd’s story should inspire everyone to take part in the Heart First Bike Ride Worcester.”
Hundreds of cyclists took part last year and with a choice of three routes – eight miles, 28 miles and 45 miles, there is something for everyone.
All routes leave the Racecourse and lead to Droitwich Spa and Bromsgrove. So challenge your friends, family and colleagues to come and enjoy the summertime fun whilst raising vital funds for the British Heart Foundation.
