Sixways Live ’07 raises vital cash for flood appeal

The Status Quo concert at Sixways was a huge success in many ways. Not only did the event provide a fantastic musical spectacular – it also raised crucial funds to help flood victims across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The British Red Cross had volunteers at the gates of the concert at Sixways collecting money for the thousands of people who have been affected by the floods. And generous concert-goers donated £1,140.79 for the National Flood appeal.

The floods in Worcestershire and across the rest of the country have been the worst for over 40 years and have caused millions of pounds of damage to schools, businesses and sporting facilities.

Home and businesses across Worcester have been hit and our sporting neighbours at Worcestershire County Cricket Club has lost thousands of pounds worth of ticket sales.

Thousands of people have also been without running water. Even now the water is not yet safe to drink for much of the bordering Gloucestershire region.

Anyone who wants to donate to the appeal can do so by calling 0845 054 7200 and quote National Floods Appeal.

Alternately you can go online at www.redcross.org.uk/floodsappeal or visit local Red Cross shop – there are shops in Worcester, Evesham, Malvern, Kidderminster and Stourport-on-severn.
