npower hand Rugby Relief huge boost

Worcester Warriors are delighted to announce that official main club sponsor, npower, has given Rugby Relief a huge cash injection by pledging £15,000 to help flood victims across the region.

Warriors and Gloucester Rugby have joined forces to hold a rugby festival named Rugby Relief to raise valuable funds to help those in dire need of assistance following the disastrous floods in the communities of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.

The two Guinness Premiership clubs kicked off the fundraising by donating a joint sum of £30,000 to the event that will take place at Tewkesbury Rugby Club on Sunday, September 2.

And now Warriors’ main sponsor, npower, has decided to match the money put in by the Sixways club and given £15,000 to hand the fundraising another boost.

“npower and Worcester Warriors are committed to working together to support the local community both on and off the field,” said Carol Hart, npower Community Involvement Manager.

“We wish Rugby Relief every success and hope the money raised from this event will help many of those who have been so badly affected by the recent floods across Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.”

Tom Ryder, Community Manager at Warriors, added: “Once again npower have shown their commitment in supporting the Worcester Warriors’ community involvement. npower’s kind contribution will be hugely significant to the funds raised by Rugby Relief.”

Rugby Relief will feature a Touch Rugby Tournament along with various other rugby challenges and events, with all proceeds going direct to the mayor’s offices of both Gloucester and Worcester to ensure the money raised is distributed across the region.

Stars from both Worcester Warriors and Gloucester Rugby will also appear at Rugby Relief to sign autographs and meet visitors.

Premiership Rugby Community activities, unique rugby auctions are also scheduled to take place at the festival with food and drink all available on the day.

The social Touch Rugby Tournament will involve teams of ten who will play in a round robin tournament with finals. Club and social teams are encouraged to make a minimum donation of £200 (£20 per person). Corporate and business teams are asked to make a minimum donation of £1,000 (£100 per person).  All teams entering are also encouraged to raise further funding through sponsorship via their employers or individual sponsorship.
