Warriors chief delight at Net debut

Warriors boss Mike Ruddock revealed his delight at new boy Netani Talei as the Fijian star grabbed a debut try.

Talei was handed his first team debut at The Stoop for the EDF Energy clash with Harlequins – just days after his try-scoring exploits in the Guinness A League.

And the back row star was the star performer for Warriors as he struck with a try after 11 minutes and produced some thundering runs all around the park.

“I thought Netani was man of the match for us, he was superb and gave us real go forward in the first half.  In the second half he took a few knocks but first half he scored a fantastic try,” said Director of Rugby Ruddock.

“We have perhaps lacked some firepower in midfield to finish of these moves and cut the line. Netani gave us that and gave the boys a lift. Having said that, every time we scored a try we let them back in so that is something we have to focus on.

“Overall it was a big improvement and Netani was outstanding. He looks a great signing, a real good prospect for us.

“Hopefully when we get some of the new boys in, alongside the pack with the form they showed today, we have got the makings of a really good team.”
