Red tape denies Rawlinson debut

Warriors have announced that New Zealand international Greg Rawlinson has been forced to delay his club debut because of registration issues ahead of the European Challenge Cup.

Rawlinson was originally named on the replacements bench for the clash with Montauban at Sixways on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

However, the club has now been informed by the ERC that due to differences within the registration process between domestic and European competitions he has unfortunately missed the deadline to play in the fixture.

“We’re delighted to have Greg at the club now and were excited about the possibility of handing him his club debut in the European Challenge Cup. He was named him in good faith, subject to registration and fitness tests,” said Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock.

“It has since come to our attention that, while he could have featured in a Guinness Premiership match this weekend, he remains ineligible for Europe.

“However, he will be available for the rest of the European campaign and for the Sale Sharks fixture next Friday.”
