Sixways set for Rugby Academy

The Warriors Rugby Camp return to Sixways on Thursday – with record-breaking numbers of youngsters set to learn from the first team stars at Sixways Stadium.

The Premier Rugby Academies, delivered by the Warriors Community department, is back with a bang at Sixways for the first time since the start of the redevelopment.

The Community team, supported by npower, will deliver a two-day version of the national programme of rugby camps utilising the latest techniques and ideas from the very top of the game.

The 100 young people who will be in attendance for the camp will also get an extra special experience as the Warriors three new All Blacks – Rico Gear, Sam Tuitupou and Greg Rawlinson – will be passing on top tips, signing autographs and answering questions from the aspiring rugby players.

The Premier Rugby Academies are a National Programme of camps run by professional coaches at Guinness Premiership clubs. The Premier Rugby Academies are the only camps with access to the top players and the top venues and have proved hugely successful since they began.

The camp will address handling, contact and running skills based around games and decision making ensuring the players attending maximise their potential.

People taking part in the Warriors Christmas Camp will have the bonus of getting top kicking tips from fly half star Shane Drahm and working with Heineken Cup winning hooker Ben Gotting who will be taking time in between rehab from a knee injury to pass on his expertise over the two days.

The dates for the next camp will be posted online at www.wrfc.co.uk from the start of next week.

* Youngsters attending the two-day camp are advised to bring plenty of warm clothing and a change of clothes, a packed lunch, water bottle and relevant sporting equipment.
