Ruddock – Warriors ready to go after break

Mike Ruddock believes his Warriors have benefitted from a mid-season break and will be primed for action when they tackle Saracens in the Guinness Premiership on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).

Warriors will face a first competitive game in 15 days when they travel to Vicarage Road.

However, Director of Rugby Ruddock is convinced the break from top-flight action – for some the first break since June – will have given his squad a new edge and they are ready to step back into the heat of battle.

“It will have done the players good to have some down time and to recover, but come Sunday we will be ready and keen to get that result,” he said.

“What we have now is a group of players who set their own standards. They have come back focused on the job and that is really positive.”

Warriors return to action buoyed by the first league win of the season over Bristol and eager to gain momentum to pull away from the foot of the Guinness Premiership table.

But Ruddock has warned that Saracens are a dangerous proposition on home soil in Watford.

“Saracens are a very dangerous team with a lot of good quality about the forward pack,” he said.

“They can rip us to pieces if we let them play but we go there determined to play our own game and get a positive result.

“We now have a very strong squad and you only have to look at Netani Talei who made a great impression in his first few games. He’s been injured and has now got to fight to get back into the starting fifteen.”
