npower adds Warriors weight to Inclusive Rugby

Thanks to significant additional resources this season from our principle community partner npower, the Warriors community team have been at the very forefront of the provision for disabled athletes.

The inclusive rugby scheme of work is joint funded by the English Federation for Disability Sport, the RFU and npower. The funding allows the growing Warriors Community team to run a substantial inclusive rugby programme, as demonstrated at half time of the Warriors versus Ospreys fixture at Sixways Stadium in October.

The most recent work has been carried out by Simon Lane and Steve Joslin, Warriors Community Rugby Coaches, as they performed a key role in identifying talented disabled athletes and looked at ways to support these young people to ensure they fulfil their potential and be the best they can be in their chosen sport- some even as far (we hope!) as London 2012.

“Some sports are not yet fully on board in regard to inclusive sports. However, rugby, through Worcester Warriors, have been fantastic in their commitment to this project, with both Warriors coaches being very professional in their coaching and attitude on the day,” commented Vicky Webley, Senior Competition Manager and Co-ordinator of the Talent Camp.
