Red hot derby now a sizzling sell out!

Worcester Warriors can confirm that the Guinness Premiership derby day clash with Gloucester Rugby at Sixways Stadium on Saturday, March 29 (kick-off 3pm) is now sold out.

Warriors have been inundated with ticket requests ahead of the visit of their big local rivals and now a capacity crowd of 10,197 is guaranteed for a mouth-watering top-flight fixture.

The game will be the fourth sell-out Guinness Premiership match of the campaign and Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock paid tribute to the army of fans who will again create an electric atmosphere at Sixways Stadium.

“It is great news to hear that the derby match against Gloucester has already sold out,” said Ruddock. “Our fans have been absolutely fantastic all season and it’s great to see how much this fixture means to them.

“I have been used to lots of derby games in the past, in a number of different environments, but they don’t come any bigger than Warriors against Gloucester, particularly at Sixways Stadium.

“We are now unbeaten in three matches and with Gloucester coming to us on the back of some good results it makes for a highly charged and exciting contest between two sides in good form.”

General Manager Charlie Little said the club was delighted with the sell out as part of a big double header as Warriors also prepare to welcome Montpellier in the European Challenge Cup quarter-finals just a week later (Saturday, April 5).

“It is a tribute to both sets of fans that the Gloucester game has sold out so early and we look forward to a very special derby day atmosphere at Sixways Stadium,” he said.

“There is a common misconception that all our home games are sell outs when we often do have tickets available right up to the big day. But on this occasion we are putting the ‘sold out’ boards up early for the local derby.”

“It is a big two weeks for the club with local pride on the line against our good friends from Gloucester and then the visit of Montpellier in the European Challenge Cup,” added Little.

“We are potentially just three games from Heineken Cup rugby in Europe so that is also massive game. Our dedicated and fantastic support can really be our 16th man against Montpellier as we look to make home advantage count.”

Tickets for the Montpellier game in the European Challenge Cup are available on-line at http://www.wrfc.co.uk/ or by calling 0870 990 5650 or visiting the Ticket Office at Sixways Stadium.
