Ruddock calls for fan power in Euros

Warriors boss Mike Ruddock has urged fans to turn out in force and create another wall of sound against Montpellier – after hailing the derby day atmosphere at Sixways Stadium.

Director of Rugby Ruddock was full of praise for the army of fans that turned out to watch the thrilling 17-14 victory over Gloucester in the Guinness Premiership and gave such stunning levels of support.

And now he wants a repeat on Saturday when Montpellier arrive in the European Challenge Cup quarter-finals as the quest for silverware – and a place in the Heineken Cup next season – continues at pace.

“The support we had against Gloucester was simple magnificent,” said Ruddock. “The backing the team had played a huge role and helped spur us forward for such a dramatic finale.

“It was incredible to hear that much noise and passion inside Sixways and a repeat against Montpellier would be ideal to create the kind of atmosphere that this game deserves.

“It is a massive game for us with the chance to make a home semi-final in Europe. The players intend to play their part on the field and I hope our fans will do their bit off the pitch by once again showing their unwavering and magnificent support.”
