Project Sixways – East Stand roof down

Sixways Stadium is undergoing a huge revamp this summer with an exciting £8million redevelopment of the East Stand takes place.

Work is now well underway on the latest transformation of the club and this week the progress has seen:

Drainage runs and sand slit drainage work has now been installed in the North East corner of the stadium pitch. Work continues on improving the drainage on the West side of the stadium pitch. Temporary measures to bring water onto the pitch to aid grass growth are also been investigated.

Work continues on Cummins Farm with a new drainage run added.

Weston Land work has seen sand slits put to improve drainage on Pitch Two – it is now of equal standard to Pitch One.

Laser are back on site and working up to the tie-ins on Pershore Lane at the north point of development this week. They should be ready for tarmac on these tie-ins next week Tie-ins on south end of the development will be the next product.

Cabling has gone in around the external roundabout for lighting columns to come in.

The brook is now fully diverted and the old Barbourne Brook becomes private drain catching storm water from Sixways site and depot.  We have temporarily cut across the old access road which now allows the brook to be diverted into the 750ml culvert which runs underneath the gyratory and onto the balancing ponds. Having diverted the private drain into the culvert work has been carried out to fill in the brook that runs by the North/East corner of the stadium.

Having filled in the brook the contractor are able to create a flat area on which to complete the piling of North East corner block earlier in week. The pilng has been completed behind the East Stand.

The entire roof structure and supporting columns have now been removed from the East Stand after just over two weeks of work.
