Home date change in EDF Energy Cup

Worcester Warriors can today confirm that our home EDF Energy Cup clash with Harlequins has been moved back 24 hours.

Warriors were originally due to welcome Harlequins to Sixways Stadium for the Round Three tie on Saturday, November 1.

However, the BBC has now decided to televise the other game in our pool and therefore the fixture will be played on Sunday, November 2, with a 3pm kick-off.

“We apologise to our supporters for any inconvenience caused by the request of the tournament organisers for this fixture amendment,” said Charlie Little, General Manager at Warriors.

“Given that BBC Wales have chosen to broadcast the London Irish and Ospreys game, and tournament regulations stipulate final games in each pool should start at the same time so there is no advantage to any particular side, we have to comply.

“However, this is still a very big game, is part of the Season Ticket package, and the right result could put us into the knock-out stages of the competition. We hope to have a good Sunday crowd to back the Warriors in the EDF Energy Cup.”

As a result of the fixture change, Warriors have also announced the club’s annual fireworks spectacular, due to take place on the Sunday, has been moved forward to Friday, October 31.

Fans that have purchased tickets to either the EDF Energy Cup or fireworks display, that show the original date, are advised that they can still use them for the new dates.

Supporters who have any queries are invited to contact the Warriors Box Office on 01905 454183.
