Warriors ticket offer for local fundraiser

Worcester Warriors have joined forces with the city’s newest Rotary Club, Virgornia, and Worcester Lions in a special appeal to help heroic fundraiser and local man Richard Wood.

Richard Wood single-handedly rowed across the Atlantic to raise £30,000 for charity but has since suffered a stroke.

The local fundraiser has now been launched is to help the intrepid oarsman purchase a Tramper, a special all-terrain electric buggy that will enable Richard to resume a more normal life with greater mobility.

Guinness Premiership side Worcester Warriors have kindly donated 250 tickets for the European Challenge Cup match against French giants Bourgoin on Saturday, December 13 to Virgornia Rotary Club and Lion so they can sell them at a discounted price in aid of the Richard Wood Appeal.

The club has also given organisers use of a private lounge on the day of the game and Commercial Director Kathy Leather revealed the Warriors were fully behind fundraising for such a popular local character who had raised so much money for good causes in the past.

“Richard Wood is a true Warrior with what he has achieved in his life and the coaching team and all the players at Sixways are determined to support such a great guy and hope people will come along and see our European fixture.”

The match takes place at Sixways Stadium on Saturday 13th December and tickets can be purchased from the Standard’s office Foregate Street in Worcester for a special discounted rate with all funds going to the appeal.
