Luscombe nearing Warriors debut

Warriors boss Mike Ruddock has revealed that former Wales international Hal Luscombe is nearing a first team debut – and could even feature against Bourgoin in the European Challenge Cup.

Luscombe joined Warriors in the summer from Harlequins but has been forced to play the waiting game to showcase his skills to the Worcester support after knee surgery.

However, after months of rehabilitation the centre is now back in full training and Director of Rugby Ruddock is ready to unleash his latest Warrior who he believes will add a new dimension to his squad.

“Hal has dropped into the full sessions without any problems at all,” said Ruddock. “He has got involved and took some heavy knocks on the tackle bag and bounced back up after them.

“He looked like he was enjoying himself and hopefully that is the hardest part done for him now. He is back and that should mean he is looking to be included over the next couple of weeks, probably against Bourgoin.

“Hal is a quality player, I have been lucky enough to work with him in the past during my time a Newport Gwent Dragons. I had seen him play before that and he was quite outstanding as an Under-21 player, he really shined.

“I also got to work with him with Wales too when I picked him. I think he is gear talent. He has obviously had this injury setback but he will be keen to play well and show the Warriors fans what a good player he is.

“He will also be keen to get back into the Welsh team – he will be highly motivated to do that.

“It will take him a run of games to get back into form after such a time out, but he will do that and he will add something to the squad. There is no doubt about that.”
