Wing Gear given Baa-Baas start

Warriors wing Rico Gear will start for the Barbarians when they face Australia at Wembley on Wednesday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

Gear will line up at outside-centre – alongside Jean De Villers – in a Baa-Baas side coached by South Africa’s World Cup-winning coach Jake White and Saracens director of rugby Eddie Jones.

Five of the seven backline players are South Africans with the other two being New Zealanders, Gear and the formidable wing Joe Rokocoko

The match has been organised as part of the British Olympic Association’s celebrations of the first London Olympics in 1908.

Gear will feature in the game at Wembley before jetting out for Worcester’s European Challenge Cup clash with Bourgoin in France.
