Boss reveals Garvey injury booster

Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock has revealed that wing wonder Marcel Garvey is now finally closing in on a return to competitive action after returning to training after an injury hit season.

Wing Garvey has not played for Warriors since suffering a hip injury in pre-season and there were fears he may not play at all this season after initial reports on the problem.

However, new medication has now seen a sharp upturn in Garvey’s recovery and Ruddock is convinced the speedster is finally on the comeback trail.

“Marcel is doing a lot of skills work at the moment and also some running,” revealed Ruddock.

“We are hoping that in two or three weeks he can return to some full training – that will be a massive boost to us.

“Thankfully the medication that was prescribed for Marcel seems to have speeded things up and suddenly he is back with us without any problems.

“We want to do it all properly and make sure he is right, but hopefully the further scans will show that he can start to look to drop back into training.

“Matthew Jones will also be back training in a few weeks so suddenly things are starting to look better.

“Within two or three weeks our injury situation could change a bit and we could get some guys back. Having said that, to lose Sammy is still a massive blow for us.”
