Warriors boss demands team front up

Warriors boss Mike Ruddock has ordered his players to ‘front up’ and ‘give our fans something to be proud of’ as they look for a return to winning ways against Wasps.

Worcester tackle London Wasps at Sixways Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) keen for a big home win.

And after the defeat to Leicester Tigers last weekend – after back-to-back home defeats – Ruddock has made his players fully aware of the performance he is demanding.

“It’s a big game and certainly with our poor results of late we need to front up and give our fans something to be proud of. That has been the big message of mine all week to the players,” said the Director of Rugby.

“The player’s reaction has been positive and they realise there is plenty of support for them. I have told them they have a responsibility and I am sure they will live up to it.

“The chairman is supportive and knows to transform a team and style of play, particularly on the back of the injuries we have had, is going to take time and he believes in what we are doing and the future, as we all do.

“I think pressure can impact on players but there is a great morale and team spirit. I know people will be asking questions, especially after the last few games and the amount of tries we have conceded.

“But I will tell everyone that we are working together to try and rectify our mistakes and errors and come out the other side. It is a united dressing room and they realise they must face up to their responsibilities as I have to face up to mine.

“I don’t think they feel pressure but absolute determination to come out of this and be better for it.”
