Real interest in ale at Warriors

Real ale fans can now drink the pumps dry at Sixways Stadium and enjoy a barrel load of fun with the launch of ‘Warriors Ale’ and ‘Warriors Black Pear’ – starting with the derby day clash with Gloucester Rugby this Sunday!

The Guinness Premiership club have recently been inundated with requests to supply real ale at the club – in particular from members of the amateur section – and have now acted, with the kind support of Carlsberg UK, to make sure supporters can get the most out of their Sixways experience.

From this Sunday, for the visit of local rivals Gloucester, the club will now be serving Warriors Ale in the International Suite after working in conjunction with Carlsberg UK, who currently supply Tetley as the official beer of Warriors.

Warriors have also teamed up with Malvern Hills Brewery (MHB) to develop the exciting Warriors Black Pear which will be served in the Clubhouse Bar on every match day.

“At Warriors we are always keen to listen to what our fans want and support local businesses, particularly in the current economic climate, so are delighted to now work closely with MHB to provide Warriors Black Pear to our real ale fans,” said Brian Ryan, Sixways Events Manager.

“Carlsberg UK have been very supportive of us speaking and working with MHB and as a local product it is fitting that we officially launch it on local derby day.

“To ensure quality we are limiting the amount of stock we have for each match so I would urge fans to come early and experience the delights of both Warriors Ale and Warriors Black Pear.”

Malvern Hills Brewery – affectionately known as MHB – was established in an old quarryman’s gunpowder store in 1998. Brewer and owner, Julian Hawthornthwaite, is proud to craft imaginative and distinctive beers using hops sourced from a local hop merchant. The range of ales often take their name from local luminaries and events from the Malvern area – and now Warriors officially have their own drink!

“We’re delighted and honoured to work with such a fantastic brand as Worcester Warriors, who are clearly committed to supporting small businesses and strengthening our local economy,” said Julian Hawthornthwaite.

“This partnership will allow Worcester fans to experience our award winning Black Pear, which will be badged as ‘Warriors Black Pear’ brewed by Malvern Hills Brewery.”
