European semi-final date revealed

Worcester Warriors are just two games away from the glory of the Heineken Cup – and have now announced details of the European Challenge Cup semi-final with Bourgoin.

Mike Ruddock’s cup stars will travel to France for a highly anticipated match at the Stade Pierre Rajon on Saturday, May 2 (kick-off 1.30pm local time).

Warriors have already faced French outfit Bourgoin twice this season, with the two sides sharing the spoils with a victory each on home soil.

Bourgoin are chasing a tournament double – they were the first European Challenge Cup winners back in 1997 – and are flying the flag for French rugby once again.

They qualified for the last four by beating top quarter-final qualifiers London Irish at the Madejski Stadium last weekend and now ensure a return of action to French soil which has seen just one semi-final match played there in the last three seasons.

That was when ASM Clermont Auvergne beat Newport Gwent Dragons in the 2006/07 tournament while there have been only three of the last 14 semi-finals played in France after their early domination of the tournament.

The weekend of top class European club rugby will kick-off on the Friday night with the all-England semi-final between Northampton Saints and Saracens at Franklin’s Gardens (7.45 pm local time). Both matches will be televised live in the UK and France.

Further ticket information for the European Challenge Cup semi-final game with Bourgoin will be announced by Warriors in due course.
