Inside the Warrior Camp – Matt Jones

Pre-season training is well underway at Worcester Warriors as all the players return to Sixways Stadium and step up preparations ahead of the new Guinness Premiership season.

To give supporters a special insight into life ‘Inside the Warrior Camp’ we will be running a series of special training blogs from different players as the big countdown continues.

Today we hear from fly half Matt Jones….

“Another difficult week of pre-season training done, the intensity is building as we get closer to the kick off of the season. This week we have been nailing down some of our patterns of play and team structures along with some hard conditioning sessions. The boys have just finished a particularly nasty looking Friday fitness session. Due to my injury and not being able to weight bear on my foot I feel a bit like James Cracknell having spent so much time on the rowing machine!! Although I have rowed much further than Barbados!

The week has also been difficult with the news of Hal’s retirement – he was a good mate of mine so I for one will miss his presence at training as will the rest of the boys in the squad. We wish him well in whatever he decides to do in the future, although the 1000’s of houses he owns in Wales should stand him in good stead!!!

Myself, Matt Cox, Shaun Ruwers and Will Bowley were fined for various offences last week and had to turn our hand to some interior decoration of the Team Room this week! After hours of grafting on Wednesday afternoon we were very pleased with our “changing rooms” efforts, however there’s always one in the squad who doesn’t agree and Laurence Llewelyn Fortey let us know what a terrible job he thought we’d done on Thursday morning!”
