Worcester Warriors showed they are ready to keep cool in the burning heat of the Guinness Premiership this season – after a pre-season training session with a difference from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service!
The first team squad at Sixways Stadium has enjoyed a variety of different training drills and exercises on Fridays during pre-season to keep sessions fresh and develop team spirit.
Warriors teamed up with Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service last season when the team visited Malvern Fire Station for a number of grueling physical tasks.
This season the Warriors returned the gesture and invited them along to Sixways Stadium – and once again the emergency services made sure Mike Ruddock’s men built up a real sweat ahead of the new campaign.
The players were put through a variety of tests including pulling fire trucks and equipment, carrying hoses and casualties, and even taking part in an obstacle course while wearing fire fighting gear.
Keir Hansen, Strength & Conditioning Co-ordinator at Warriors, said: “We were delighted that Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service could again take the time to come and give the players a real physical workout and at the same time an insight into the invaluable work they do every day.”
