Final glory for Joshites in Touch Rugby

The Worcester Warriors summer Touch Rugby programme was brought to a fitting end on Wednesday night with the Division Two Grand Final being played out in near perfect conditions.

The game between a Touch More Smut and Joshites was a real end to end affair with two evenly matched teams giving no quarter.

In fact the feature of the match was the defensive organisation, which limited scoring opportunities to a premium. So much so that after normal time the game finished 2-2.

The teams then went into sudden death Golden Try for a further five minutes. Unfortunately, this extra period still was not able to separate the teams, despite Joshites coming close on two occasions. They were denied by desperate last ditch tackles from Touch More Smut inspirational captain Marty Halford.

After this period of five minutes the teams entered another period of extra time. This time, however, the teams had to reduce their on field compliment by a player.

Finally the Joshites were able to claim the win when a flowing move was finished off by a clever change of angles onto the pass to score the Golden Try.

A relieved Ryan Williams collected the trophy on behalf of his team. Congratulations should go to both teams for putting on such an entertaining and skilful match.
