Warriors Player Blog – Calum MacRae

At Sixways Stadium we always want to take you inside the Warriors camp – and now we will be running Player Blogs so the players can tell you direct what is happening at the club. First up, new signing Calum MacRae fills us in…

Since moving to Worcester, apart from the obvious ribbing I’ve received from friends about ‘being behind enemy lines’, the transition has been made very easy for me by Mike Ruddock and everyone involved at the club. Having to repeat everything I say twice because of my accent and Pat (Sanderson) treating me like an second class citizen would appear to be the only issues thus far!!

Worcester and the surrounding area is very much like a larger version of my native Scottish Borders so I do feel very at home here already.

Many of you will be shaking your heads that since arriving I am already on the injury list since breaking my thumb in the last pre-season game versus Ulster Rugby. No one is more disappointed about this than myself. There is a tangible air of excitement amongst the squad about the new season and what can be achieved – that is something I want to be part of. The operation to wire it has gone well, according to the surgeon, and I will be back in the mix for selection in a month.

Finally, the Fine Committee have invested in a table tennis table for the team room which appears to be a hit amongst the boys. I haven’t played yet… but as long as I’m better than Jack Gilding’s performances to date I’ll sleep easy!!

Cheers, Calum MacRae
