Horstmann hungry for Kingsholm test

Back row star Kai Horstmann has revealed the Worcester Warriors can hardly wait for the Gloucester fixture – and are keen to get stuck back into Guinness Premiership action after the pain of Boxing Day defeat.

Horstmann is all set to play a major role in the clash at Kingsholm on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) as Warriors and Gloucester face a high stakes local derby clash.

Worcester come into the game on the back of defeat to Midlands rivals Northampton Saints and Horstmann is determined to now bury that memory and start 2010 fresh and on the front foot.

“It’s always good to have a big game to look forward to – and it doesn’t get bigger than a local derby with Gloucester,” he said.

“After the bitter frustration of the Northampton game we don’t need any more incentive to go to Kingsholm and play well.

“We just want to get back out on the pitch and put it right. It can be a long week when you just want to play again so all the players are looking forward to this one.

“We were all very, very disappointed with what happened on Boxing Day – particularly for the supporters who packed the stadium out,” he added.

“Our fans are just amazing. Week in and week out, they always get behind us, home and away, and we want to really start 2010 well for them.”
