Former Springbok captain Ruben Kruger

Worcester Warriors are today saddened by the news that legendary Springbok flanker Ruben Kruger passed away on Wednesday evening after a long battle with cancer. He was 39.

Kruger enjoyed a playing spell with Worcester Rugby Club at the start of the nineties before returning to South Africa where he became an iconic figure and captain for his country.

The ex-Cheetahs and Bulls forward earned 36 Springbok caps after making his debut in 1993 against Argentina in Buenos Aires. He was a key member of the side that won the World Cup on home soil in 1995.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends and we extend to them our sincerest condolences.
