Back row Cox to leave the Warriors

Worcester Warriors have today announced that back row Matt Cox will leave Sixways Stadium at the end of the current season.

Flanker Cox, who has made 21 appearances for Warriors since his debut in April 2008 against London Wasps, has been released from the second year of his contract by Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock.

“We are sorry to see Matt leave, but have decided to release him so that he can try and increase the number of games that he plays going forward. We would like to thank him for his commitment to the Warriors during his time here,” said Ruddock.

Cox, who has scored five tries for Warriors, said: “I would like to thank the Warriors for agreeing to release me from the second year of my contract.

“This allows me to pursue game time and experience in a league environment elsewhere having benefitted from the coaching and conditioning expertise at the Warriors over the last few years.

“I would like to thank all the coaching staff, in particular the Academy team of Andrew Stanley and Gary Meechan, who have played such a major role in my development as a player.”
