Success at Land Rover Premiership Cup

Worcester Warriors recently hosted an action packed Under 12 and Under 11 grassroots rugby festival – the Land Rover Premiership Cup.

After the success of its inaugural year, in which over 7,000 aspiring young players took part, Land Rover remain proud partners of the thriving national tournament which took place on Sunday 28th March at Dudley RFC and Bromsgrove RFC.

The series of games throughout the day concluded in a close Under 12 final where Ampthill RFC were crowned the winners over the a strong outfit from Droitwich RFC. In the Under 11 final, Droitwich RFC were the victors, defeating Ledbury RFC, in a hard fought final. As well as winning the festival, the young players have also won places in the prestigious Land Rover Parade of Champions where they will be presented to a crowd of 81,600 at Twickenham during the Guinness Premiership Final on May 29th. The winners and runners up on the day were presented with their trophies and medals by Worcester Warriors’s players Sam Tuitupou and James Collins.

Steve Joslin, Worcester’s Community Rugby Manager commented on the importance of Land Rover’s support, “Without the generous sponsorship from companies like Land Rover these events often wouldn’t take place. The great benefit to the children is that they have a real opportunity to meet and play against other teams that they might not usually come across. The fact it is a tournament just adds to the atmosphere and the competitive nature.”

Commenting on the support of the Land Rover Premiership Cup, Anthony Bradbury, Marketing Director of Land Rover UK, said: “We are delighted that the Land Rover Premiership Cup has been such a success. It is a significant initiative which provides a unique opportunity for young players to channel their enthusiasm for the sport and to play in a national tournament. Land Rover’s commitment to rugby now covers all levels of the game, supporting the elite of the England team to young players of the future, and this is something we are extremely proud of.”
